September 20th - Arts Council ‘Take It Away - Loan Scheme’ (England)

'Take it away' is an Arts Council England initiative that offers an interest free loan (0% APR) between £100 and £2000 for people to buy musical instruments, supporting musical equipment and tuition, through a network of participating retailers across England.

September 20th - CADW funding for Protect Historic Buildings (Wales)

Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government's historic environment division which aims to protect and develop the historic environment of Wales has announced the launch of a new £500,000 pilot programme to revitalise redundant buildings in rural areas of Wales.

September 20th - EPSRC’s Public Engagement Scheme (UK)

The Engineering and Physical Science Research Council has announced a new call for proposals under its Partnerships for Public Engagement Scheme. Funding is available to researchers to engage with the public, including young people in order to communicate the excitement of fundamental and applied research in science and engineering.

September 20th - Media Programme call for proposals for European Audio Visual Works (UK)

The European Commission has issued a call for proposals under it Media Programme. MEDIA co-finances training initiatives for audiovisual industry professionals, the development of production projects.

September 20th - Funding for Farm Resource Efficiency Projects (Yorkshire)

Yorkshire Forward has announced a second round of funding from the £400,000 Farm Resource Efficiency Programme (FREP). This programme aims to improve the economic performance of livestock holdings by introducing environmental technologies into the day-to-day activities of the business.

September 20th - INCREASE III Funding available to promote Community Recycling (Scotland)

Not for profit community based organisations that are interested in developing projects that help to reduction, reuse and recycling of waste are invited to apply for funding through the INCREASE III programme.

September 20th - Revolving Green Fund opens for applications (England)

The Revolving Green Fund is a partnership helping institutions adopt a 'low carbon' approach to energy. They are inviting institutions to apply for a new £30 million fund available from 2008-11 for projects that reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Applications in the region of £1 million to £4 million per institution are anticipated in this strand.

September 20th - Shell Springboard Awards Tackle Climate Change (UK)

Shell, through their Shell Springboard programme are offering up to six awards of between £20,000 and £40,000 in each of three UK regions - north, central and south, to any small business, based in the UK, who submit the most compelling plans for a product or service which helps combat climate change.

September 20th - Veolia Environmental Trust grants of up to £150k available for Environmental Improvements (UK)

Grants of up to £150,000 can include reclaiming land that has been disused or used as a landfill site or coal mining site, installing and refurbishing play facilities, improving the natural habitat and preserving or restoring buildings of historical or religious importance.

September 20th - Water Recreation Challenge Fund (Wales)

The Wales Assembly Government has announced the launch of a new ‘Water Recreation Challenge Fund’ to help improve and promote public access to waterways across Wales. The minimum grant available is £5,000.

September 20th - Wellcome Trust - Arts Awards (UK)

The Wellcome Trust is inviting organisations and individuals to apply for funding through its Arts Awards. The Arts Awards support projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts including dance, drama, performance arts, visual arts, music, film, craft, photography, creative writing or digital media. Applications are invited for projects up to £30,000.

September 1st - £70 Million more Government Communities-builders Funding (England)

The Government has announced a new £70 Million Fund to support local organisations known as community anchors with the aim to empower individuals and local organisations. The funding is to support organisations that provide services to their local communities.

September 1st - Preventing Violent Extremism: Community Leadership Fund (England, Scotland and Wales)

This new Government funding is open for applications, for 2008, under its Preventing Violent Extremism: Community Leadership Fund. The Fund aims to support work that will build the capacity of individuals, organisations and communities to take the lead on tackling violent extremist influences.

September 1st - EU Parliament Issues to Support Political Parties Operating at the European Level (UK)

In order to foster a greater sense of European Awareness, the European Parliament has issued a call for proposals to support political parties that operate at the European level. The budget for this €10, 858,000 and the maximum level of support available is 85% of the eligible operating costs.

September 1st - EU Audiovisual Projects for Television 2008 (UK)

The European Commission has funding available for the co-financing of awareness raising actions on developing country issues, for broadcast on European public TV channels. A total of €1.5 million is available to support projects by European public TV stations and audiovisual production companies.

September 1st - Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme (England & Scotland)

The Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme aims to foster regional development and transnational co-operation between the North Sea Regions of the seven countries around the North Sea. Applications can be submitted by national, sub-national, regional and local authorities, universities and non-governmental organisations.

September 1st - Ofcom - Community Radio Fund (UK)

The Office of Communications (Ofcom) has announced that next round for funding applications under its Community Radio Fund will open on the 5th November 2008 to fund the core running costs of Community Radio Stations.

September 1st - Talktalk - Innovation in the Community Awards 2008 (UK)

Telecoms Company Talktalk is seeking applications for its Innovation in the Community Awards 2008. It enables charity and community groups throughout the UK to harness the power of the Internet. 30 winners will receive grants of £2,000 each to fund technology related projects, as well as technology equipment to help them make the most of the Internet.

September 1st - Trust for London – Funding for Disabled People's Organisations (London)

The Trust for London has announced that it is calling for applications from small, disabled-led organisations involved in, or who are interested in developing, campaigning and advocacy activities.

September 1st - Voluntary Sector Development Fund - Applications for 2008-09 (Scotland)

The Scottish Government has announced that it is now seeking applications to the 2008-09 Voluntary Sector Development Fund (VSDF). The purpose of the Voluntary Sector Development Fund is to assist Voluntary Sector organisations in meeting the costs of developing a highly trained and qualified workforce.
